
ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITIES OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC (AUAP)
The AUAP is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the highest formal consultative status with UNESCO. Its primary mission is to serve as a leading platform for interaction and collaboration among members, acting as the collective voice of universities and colleges in Asia and the Pacific. The AUAP regularly organizes conferences and varies activities for higher education leaders and institutions to address and deliberate on key issues and challenges in higher education today. Committed to fostering collaboration among institutions, the AUAP is dedicated to providing valuable services to its members, non members and network across the global.
The primary missions of the AUAP are to foster a culture of quality and innovation in higher education, research, and community service; to uphold and celebrate the values and cultural diversity of Asia and the Pacific, promoting understanding and cooperation for socio-economic development and global peace; and to serve as a platform for interaction and collaboration among members while representing the collective voice of universities across Asia and the Pacific.
The AUAP offers a diverse range of activities for both staff and students. These include faculty and student development programs, the AUAP Goodwill Ambassador initiative, leadership training at the UN, AUAP Committees (Research & Innovation, Communication, Country Chapter Chair, Quality Assurance , Digital AI & Transformation, Internationalization, and Accreditation & Rankings) joint research projects, forums, and networking events. We also conduct the AUAP Faculty Development Program, faculty exchange programs, the Asia- Pacific Student Summer and Faculty Development Program, faculty leadership programs, quality assurance and accreditation rankings training, sports competitions, the WFUNA International Model United Nations, and a global student summer camp. For students specifically, we organize English speech and debate competitions, global leadership training, student exchange programs, and academic Olympiads. We have developed a tool to assess institutional readiness for implementing internationalization programs (ISETTIA) . Additionally, the AUAP launched its Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) Instrument, designed to rate institutions based on self-evaluation. These tools are available for use by both members and non-members alike.
